INSTRUMENTS FOR OFFICIAL TABS
Each tab comes equipped with a range of practical features to enhance your playing experience:
Our app also allows you to switch between Chords and Tabs. The key difference is that Tabs (Pro) provide full sheet music for musicians, including notated notes and accidentals, while Chords offer simplified fretboard diagrams with tablature for easier play.
• Backing Track: Available exclusively for Official and Pro tabs, enjoy an accompaniment track closely aligned with the original recording.
• Practice mode (for subscribers to UG Practice subscriptions only): Practice Mode transforms the Ultimate Guitar app into your very own AI music coach. It helps you identify which parts to practice, and supports you as you improve.
This buttons you can see only on UG in iOS versions.
• Chords \ Strumming feature: You can switch between the Chords and Strumming buttons at any time. Please advise that the Shots button now is located in the Strumming section.
Strumming is the technique of brushing fingers or a pick across multiple strings of a guitar or other stringed instruments to create rhythm and harmony, usually on downbeats and upbeats.
• Transpose: Adjust the key to better suit your vocal range or playing style.
To reach this button, you need to click the Chords button, then Transpose on the official Tab.
• Simplify: Make chords easier to play with simplified versions. Please note that not every Tab have this button.
• Heart Icon: Save tabs to your favorites for quick access.
• “Plus” Icon: Add the current tab directly to one of your playlists.
• YouTube Icon: Open the original song video on YouTube.
• Comment Icon: Join the discussion and connect with other users.

• A metronome is an essential tool for musicians of any skill level. It allows you to set the tempo and choose from a wide range of timing options, from Prestissimo (the fastest tempo) to Largissimo (the slowest). Simply scroll the metronome wheel to adjust the tempo according to your preference.
• A tuner is an electronic device that helps you precisely tune your instrument by detecting its pitch and comparing it to a reference standard.
• Count-in feature: this feature provides a countdown from one to four before the tab begins playback.
• Instruments: View the original instrument arrangement and mute or select parts as needed.
Beginning: This button resets the tab playback to the beginning, allowing you to listen from the start.
Play button: This button will start playing the tab and enable automatic scrolling.
Loop: Repeat specific sections to practice challenging parts.
Speed: Control the playback tempo to match your skill level.
INSTRUMENTS FOR NON-OFFICIAL TABS:
Non-official tabs are user-submitted, free, and community-rated versions of songs. They are identified by missing the green "Official" or red "Pro" stars and are often found in text format, or sometimes as user-uploaded Guitar Pro files. These tabs are generally accurate, with the most popular versions often being the best.
In the search box, you can find multiple versions submitted by other users of the service (see screenshot 1).
On a non-official tab page, you’ll see the song title, artist, tablature difficulty, and the tab author’s nickname. The tab’s rating is also displayed. On the right side, you’ll find buttons to:
Edit the tab (your changes are saved only in your profile)
Add the tab to your playlists
Save the tab to your favorites
Heart Icon: Save tabs to your favorites for quick access.
“Plus” Icon: Add the current tab directly to one of your playlists.
YouTube Icon: Open the original song video on YouTube.
